The Anderson Constitutions, the founding document of speculative Freemasonry, were written 300 years ago. On the occasion of this anniversary, the VUB and the ULB are joining forces for an exceptional Théodore Verhaegen Chair that will give the floor to two eminent specialists in Freemasonry, who will examine its origins from a historical perspective.
The two holders of the Chair will also give four lessons in the framework of the Chair, at the ULB:
Lesson 1: Andrew Prescott: « James Anderson as historian and fabulist » (15 February 2023, 6PM)
Lesson 2: Andrew Prescott: « The Idea of the Constitution in the Eighteenth Century » (22 February 2023, 6PM)
Lesson 3: Susan Mitchell Sommers : « Bringing Microhistory to Esoteric Biography: The Strange Case of Ebenezer Sibly » (19 April 2023, 6PM)
Lesson 4: Susan Mitchell Sommers: « Too Good to be True: Masonic Mythology and the life of Thomas Dunckerley » (26 April 2023, 6PM)
